Why this portal?
In the last few years, a conspicuous literature was produced that addressed the challenges related to engineering software in the AI era, and how they might be overcome. This interleaves with the research trend on the technical debt, and with the discussion about resource usage and environmental sustainability, which is gaining more and more momentum, and for very good reason.
However, making a sense out of scientific production and turning it into actionable insights that AI engineers of today and tomorrow can quickly assimilate and readily apply can sometimes represent a challenge. This portal was created with the purpose of supporting a collective effort to overcome that challenge, collaboratively.
As such, it can be envisioned that the portal will encompass over the time more and more functionalities targeted to enable the creation and the growing of a vibrant community of academics, researchers, and practitioners, that are all heading towards a common objective: making software projects that use AI technologies succeed.
The resource page is where all the learning resources, tools, and networking enablers are listed. It can be seen as a catalog of everything that this portal has to offer to the community of AI engineers. On the other hand, the blog will be used for providing updates about the work that is being carried out within the portal, as well as for mentioning possibly relevant events, opportunities, resources, in a less structured way.
The initiative is open to the participation of anybody who is active in the field or has an interest for it; please do not hesitate to be in touch if interested. It can be an occasional contribution, such as bringing to the attention some piece of work that you did, or that you came across and that you believe it deserves a mention, or some event. It can be also something more structured, about the organization of the portal, a proposal about how the initiative could be made more effective, or some resource that might be introduced and that you would be happy to curate.
